You can read a great story on The EDGE dying at the age of 27 on Dallas News. When I saw the station crapped out at 27, it made me think of the “27 Club“. The EDGE has been a staple around here and it’s been my go-to station when I actually do listen to music on the radio. I guess if you want Christmas jams, it’s the place to go for now.
That means the EDGE has joined the list of the 27 Club with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse…as well as many others. I’m not sure I’ll pour a “Zima” out for them like DMN said, but I definitely will pour something out.
But then I started thinking, I believe our favorite station around here, THE TICKET 96.7FM / 1310AM will be having another birthday towards the end of January turning a big 23 years old. Let’s hope we see more than 4 years for the little ticket!
As a cheers to the new Christmas format, here’s a good listen of The Rant – Christmas Angel Tree
Should be 96.7 FM / 1310 AM.
ahh geez…thx. fixed
Caught the tail end of George Gimarc on with the Hard Liners this week. Good stuff. I particularly liked his description of Pearl Jam being like Bad Company with a temper. I’ll pour one out for The Edge 102.1 also. But Wilonsky is right. It’s been gone a lot longer than this past week. Not going to bother tuning in to the Eagle either. We’re lucky to have The Ticket and KXT in town. It would be pretty sad without those.
