Mike BacsikThis whole story hit me today while listening to the mix between Norm & The Musers. I’ve posted the audio below so you can hear what I’m talking about, but after some comments from the Bacsik family on an old post, I felt the need to tell the story…because it’s kind of funny. (And no offense intended for any of the Bacsik’s, honestly)

Mike Bacsik Jr. is an ex-MLB pitcher, for those that don’t know the background, and is known for giving up home run number 756 to Barry Bonds…something he had said he would do on the Bob and Dan show previously to be immortalized in baseball history. Ironically, his father (Mike Sr.), who played MLB also, faced Hank Aaron and could have given up home run number 756 but he did not. Mike Jr. later said, “If my dad had been gracious enough to let Hank Aaron hit a home run, we both would have given up 756.” (wiki page)

Now I have no knowledge of how this affected the family, if at all. It made me think of the “Ray Finkle” story in Ace Ventura Pet Detective, where Finkle shanked a kick to win the Super Bowl for the Dolphins and the story drove him insane. This may be a horrible comparison, but based on what I’ve heard from some of the Bacsik family and today on the Ticket, it makes me wonder why his family is so quick to come to Mike Jr.’s defense. After all, he does work at the Ticket, where everything is for a laugh but rarely serious.

Back on August 19, 2009, The Musers decided to try to do the fake Mike Bacsik voice (rest of story is Mike Jr.). As usual, I posted the audio from the segment and regurgitated bits from the segment on the post. I also did a goofy picture, as I usually do, but when looking for pictures, I found a better head shot of his dad and used that instead. Figured it would be funnier, plus it just worked better.

A few months later, I get this kind of funny comment on the post from Mike’s aunt, that says the following:

Hey I’m Michael’s aunt and I’m wondering why you have a pic of my brother-in-law instead of Michael on this page. They both played baseball but Michael is on the ticket not his dad. Just curious. The speech impedement runs in the family. Michael’s grandad, dad and his uncles too have this muppet meets Ray Romano thing going on. Nice try on imitating the voice but I thought Gordo’s was best.

This was great because she gave a really funny description of the voice and said how it runs in the family. No big deal, right? Now fast forward to current month and I get this comment on the same post from “Sarah” who says she’s Mike’s sister, which says:

You guys are the most dumbass people I have seen or herd on the internet. Ya’ll know the picture you posted is Mike Bacsik Sr.? My dad. That’s how stupid you guys are. Quit hating on my family. Grow up. Ya’ll are grown men???????? Seems like a couple guys who played ball in high school and never made it.
It’s not easy to make it to the pros, and ya’ll could never make it there cause your idiots, non athletic, and retarted haters. GROW UP!!!!!!
Take my dads picture off the internet today! If you choose not to, I’m calling my lawyer.

Sarah

POW! POW! I mean, she’s right, I did play ball in high school but I never made it because I thought skipping school was much more fulfilling and eventually was kicked out of sports. Unfortunately, I never had my eye on sports as a profession.

Truth be told, I’m not a baseball fan and never knew who Mike Bacsik was until he started at the Ticket. Either way, I quickly realized this anger was directed towards Mike’s co-workers at the lil ticket. She HATES the Musers! Way to go guys…glad I could take the heat for you’s…but happy to do so. WINK

Finally, we go into the audio below. This is from today where Norm & The Musers were mixing. They started playing the Chew-Bacsik (as they’ve coined it) noises. Norm mentioned something about Mike getting someone suspended for the chew-bacsik drop and then it turned into an “I’m sorry” type of thing. They ask Mike if it bothers him and, of course, he says “no”. I think he gets the Ticket humor…maybe? Mike then says that his mother does not like it, which made me realize the Bacsik family has the wrong idea about the Ticket. It’s that, or they are quick to defend their family members if someone says anything they don’t like, or there’s been criticisms in the past that caused their guards to always be up.

My plea to the Bacsik family is to disregard what Mike’s co-workers are saying or doing to him. That gives the hosts credibility on the station, especially if they can take it and laugh at themselves. They don’t mean any harm to him or his family. And this site is just a fan site. We have zero affiliation with Cumulus or The Ticket. Anything they do has nothing to do with us and anything we do has nothing to do with them. Hopefully Sarah can stop yelling at me. 🙂 Oh yeah, and sorry for asking if your nipples are black…it’s just a Ticket drop that is played.

“Laces out, Mike!”
