A little update regarding closing or selling the site.
I caught the tail end of Rhyner reading Rocco Pendola’s blog post about how he feels towards the ticket and Rhyner.
I’ve been listening daily to the ticket for many years, but I came after Rocco Pendola. I found this info on Unfair Park from 1999 about Rocco:
Cooperstein’s replacement, Rocco Pendola, would signal all that’s so unnervingly wrong with The Ticket. Pendola might well be the most obtuse, most invidious personality on local radio, a guy who didn’t graduate from high school, thinks Monty Python is one man, and believes it’s actually possible to donate your liver while still living. And he’s the antithesis of Dunham and Miller and The Hardline: a Yankee transplant who doesn’t so much talk as much as he barks, screams, and yowls incessantly. Pendola is some New York City consultant’s idea of a sports-radio afternoon host.
His colleagues aren’t inclined to speak about Pendola on the record, though their treatment of him on the air says enough: Pendola is often portrayed as a moronic, screaming monkey.
I don’t have enough info to really comment about Rocco, but you can learn about him on his blog. It appears things didn’t fly between Rocco and the other guys, but I would imagine that’s the case of anyone new. The Ticket crew is like a gang you have to earn the right to be part of. Who could forget the time the Hardline jumped on to why today doesn’t suck only to be greeted by someone they didn’t know. After a barrage of “Who’s this?”, “Who are you?”, “Why are you here?”, Rhyner finally ends it with “3 – 2 – 1 and we’re done!”
This leads me to my next post directed towards Corby Davidson and his comments about “Bloggers” and “Blogs”.
you know, I always kinda liked Rocco. he gave us “I said it’s LIKE the Beatles…I didn’t say it WAS the Beatles.”
it was obvious that there was friction between him and other people, though. I actually sent him an email yesterday…hopefully he’ll stop by and say hello.
Evrytime I tuned into The Ticket and Rocco was on, I couldn’t listen longer than a few minutes. Switched back over to KLIF on something else. BAD Radio is strong. Don’t miss Greggo.
Pendola was good….his co-workers were idiots
As much as I hate to defend Rocco, who is a complete idiot, you definitely CAN donate your liver while still living. They just take part of it out and the part that is left grows back.
Doctorate or DUMBASS?
Dumbass.
Sooo aaaahhh… that guy is – uh – pretty immature. Time can’t even, uh, heal his wounds. Pathetic, you know?
Clearly some people skipped biology
I never had a problem with Rocco. I think BAD Radio sucks and Donovan is a total joke.
Roccos radio show was terrible. However the whole KTCK Station needs to go. Norm Hitzges is the only one who talks sports. The rest of these personalities are a bunch of waspie, beer drinking, bar b que eating Texans who only got those jobs because Daddy got them in. Terrible radio!
You’re about a moron. You should run to the hills to donate your liver.
You’re kidding right? Bob Sturm is from Wisconsin. Dan Mc Dowell is from Ohio. George Dunham grew up half his childhood in Chicago. Gordon Keith is from Mississippi….the ratings say that your opinion is not even close to being the majority…as we say in Texas “don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord a split ya”
