I think Corby overreacted a bit here. I don’t see how you could stay up after the phone call if you were “really tired”. It was actually a pretty funny bit, especially the Davey response and the possible baked sea bass laugh drops it created .

Dan was totally right today, Corbys wife ripped into him and he in turn ripped into TC. I heard it yesterday during BaD(D?) Radio, and loved it – then I listened again during afternoon drive because I wanted to hear the Hardline’s take.
I should have known better.
You’ll notice that when BaD(D) Radio played it, Corby is heard at the end saying, “I commend your effort” but Danny redacted that portion during their replay. You can also hear it again during the Top Ten, when they replayed the actual 8:40 Bit. I liked the way Totally Charles handled it, but I’d have said something like, “funny how you were commending my effort yesterday, Corby”.
The Hardline’s finally lost a devoted twelve-year P1. For now, anyway…I just cannot take them anymore.
The real story here is hes got no scene control, and the wife is prolly the one pissed of and hes got no other outlet than to bitch out tc. if you can dish it out take it too. Works at 3pm and bitches about a phone call at midnight, wife dont work kids dont go to school, quit being a fag you old fuck.

The two most telling moments are when he called Danny “kiddo” and yesterday when he told TC he can’t do that to a “host”. The arrogance and self-importance is unbelievable.
And there’s no way Corby stayed up for three hours. The only way he has any initial concern over an “emergency” is if that person can advance his career or do something for him.
Finally, I thought it was funny that he knew was being recorded but STILL didn’t understand that the recording WAS the bit. He kept telling TC he try to think of something.

TC deserved what Corby gave him and then some. To call someone at 1am and lead by saying you have an emergency – as a joke – is a bitch move. It was a weak bit. Corby’s done some weak bits in his day, but not this boy cries wolf bullsh. You could even catch Corby in a prank on tape in a hundred other ways and he would’ve been better with it (and maybe started a healthy rivalry). There’s a huge difference between a joke at your buddy’s expense and seeking help from a friend, possibly scaring them for your safety (bc they cared about you), and then taking the bit nowhere from there (so you didn’t even do anything with the bit… Lazy and a bitch-move, TC.

I have laughed 4 or 5 times now over TC’s “Bit”. From Seabass’ sleepy stoner laugh, Ty’s genuine concern, Daveys hang-up… the only thing that ruined it for me is Corby throwing all his toys on the ground over it. I want to hear the wife’s real point of view on it, but I’m guessing Cobbs is being the b!tch here. I loved Bad Radio in the afternoon drive spot last week, LOVED it.
Yes, Corby was a toolbag, but the best part of the undressing was the exposure of Danny as Corby’s lap dog. His suckling at Corby’s power tit during the entire exchange was a little surprising. He basically opened his bag and demonstrated there was nothing inside.
The slide of Corby into self-induced mediocrity has been sudden, but not entirely unexpected I guess. TC’s bit ended up not only being funny, but permanently wiping off the Cobra veneer to show a whipped family man uninterested in doing his job (ie exactly like every other 40 year old guy).

the part of the bit that was funny had nothing to do with tc. it was relying on the others to be funny. this further prove that tc has nothing in his bag. i also think corby takes it easy on him, but corby got riled up when tc started popping off to him. nobody wins here besides dave lane.

I have long been a Hardline apologist, dutifully channeling their greatness via the miracle of the internet at a remote outpost here in the western US. During the last few months, however, the show’s insidious and increasingly Corby-centric tilt has left me a bit… well, weary. Go back and listen to the Dirk interview last week; Corby is almost as fascinated by his own (comparatively trivial) celebrity and accomplishments as he is by the German’s. Would it kill you to ask the Championship MVP an objective question without framing it in some Corby context, e.g. “how you high-fived Dirk in the locker room” or “how you sat next to Cubes in Miami cheering on your favorite team”? The irrational rebuke of TC however, goes freakishly and sociopathically beyond the pale. Who needs a station Chris Chris when you’ve got a Corby? Sorry Rhynes, but this iteration of The Hardline can count this listener OUT.
Man, the Hardline went from awesome to a angst ridden hipster on chris chris love afair. A good group of my friends have cashed in with the Hardline, but still love Mike. Free Mike Rhiner..Free Mike Rhiner. I like how, day in and day out, one of the founders of one of the greatest programming concepts in Radio is reduced to a “stupid old f” by Danny and Corby. Yea, that was about it for me with the Hardline, and Odly, I miss the hammer and corny as the yuck monkey. This corby with a Danny fluffer is nauseating.
