A little update regarding closing or selling the site.
Sturm has just confirmed. The wait is over. We are keeping Bad Radio. Cumulus finally did something right!
The Internet is abuzz with a rumor and I REALLY hope it is not true.

UPDATE:
Bob was “missing” from Twitter for awhile, he made his return with this tweet:
Thank you for caring about this unfortunate situation. There is no point in commenting as it develops. There will be time for that I’m sure.
— Bob Sturm (@SportsSturm) June 23, 2013
In my mind, he would not call staying at the Ticket an “unfortunate situation”. So, this pretty much confirms the suspicions.
BUT… let’s just remember we have been here before.
Do you guys have WTDS from June 21? Heard Dan had a “goodbye” of some kind on there..
You can listen via the Hardline recording from Friday available here: https://www.theunticket.com/usave-it/
Good catch on this, Eric. Dan definitely was saying goodbye. Sounded like when he hugged Mike that he actually was a little emotional.
It would be a sad day if they leave. Lots of P1’s don’t like them, but I love the Big Four…D&M, Norm, BAD Radio, and the Hardline have been a part of all of our lives for so many years. I remember when Dan first came to the station and was shagging fly balls at the Ballpark, basically to prove he belonged.
Sad day. But, life goes on. So, who would replace them? Jake and Sean, or the Sirois boys?
Just a hunch but my guess is that Bob took the gig for the money & Dan is reluctant to go. CBS has been gunning for Ticket personalities, offering them double their contracts (Rhyner, Jake, now BaD). Loyalty has been what has kept most at the station.
Black & Quack will fill in for BaD until a show is chosen to replace them, likely Jake. He is the future of that station. Donnie will join Norm, until he eventually retires or more likely, dies. Then Gordo will take over 10-12.
When you consider the fact that the little Ticket has less money to throw around and that weak ass signal, it’s truly impressive that it’s such a dominant station world-wide. BaD leaving is merely a small crack in the foundation, but not enough to cause damage. I can’t imagine how BaD will handle CBS managment and smaller ratings at KFAN
Oh no. I don’t want anything to upset the balance of the radio station that is so very vital in my day to day life.
I’m not being sarcastic. D&M, BaDD Radio & The Hardline (in that order) help me get through my days. I just don’t want anything to unsettle the station as a whole, resulting in the loss of the whole thing.
Radio is so tenuous. We don’t know how good we’ve had it until it all falls apart.
(((I love Norm too, like a deranged old uncle.)))
I pray that these are just rumors. B & D know how good they have it, even if they are #4 on the totem pole of the little Ticket.
Babyarm.
Courage.
Indeed, could have been schtick but Dan did say his goodbyes. Bob didn’t really go along with it but there were moments, such as Corby saying “nobody has any idea what we are talking about, no body”
I just cannot believe they would do this….and where on the Fan will they go? afternoon and compete with the Hardline?
Money I am sure but still…
Damn. Dan sounded like he might cry while giving Mike a Summer Bash Goodbye hug.
Dan leaving would be the best thing that could happen to The Ticket.
I’ve never listened to BaD radio, and am not a big fan of Dan. However I worry how their leaving would upset the balance of the station.
The “unfortunate situation” would be the rumors and speculation I would imagine. They have been so on lately. I will miss them. Let the speculation commence!
Who takes over dirty noon to 3? WTDS still around? What about your man, Donnie Doo???
It’s not looking good…Rhyner sounded pretty upset in the first few segments of Friday’s show too
Corby: The Spurs have been able to keep the band together
Mike: Yeah and we can’t
Perhaps a well-scripted short film starring myself can keep Bob and Dan from leaving.
can we get the summer bash audio please? thanks!
when he said unfortunate i think he means because it was leaked. cause really its a win win for him.
Sturm just tweeted this:
Bob Sturm @SportsSturm 1m
We are staying home for years to come. In the end, just can’t leave you or our brothers or the special thing we have all built. #1310
Looks like they are staying.
Some where in NRH, Jake started playing this as soon as he heard the news

I am so happy that Cumulus had a clause that allowed them to match CBS’s offer.
Looks like the Washington Capitals are gonna have to find another play-by-play man.

take that cbs

bammmm
I’ve got decent Summerbash promo song audio if they really didn’t get it on tape again and no other P1’s have a better recording
I’m glad the boys are staying. Does anyone know what the terms of their agreement were? Did Cumulus make any concessions to try and match The Fan’s offer or did BaD simply re-sign due to loyalty? Maybe both.
As a side note, I think they would’ve continued to be successful elsewhere. I never understand everyone’s disdain for Dan, I think he’s really talented and hilarious (we share similar mantras = not giving an F about a lot of stuff). I would’ve continued to listen to BaD where ever they went as well as the Ticket; overall, I’m glad they did what they wanted to do.
[…] This comes by request about the possible last WTDS for the BaD Radio boys during contract talks. It was Friday, Summer Bash June of 2013. Really unknown until very end. Additional reference […]
