A little update regarding closing or selling the site.

Rather than trying to answer everyone on Twitter about a news story I tweeted, figured I’d give my 2 cents here. Mind you, I’m not privy to inside info from the ticket, just did a little research to form my opinion. This is the meat of the presser:

Cumulus migrating station websites to Triton before offering streams on iHeartRadio

Over the next four to six weeks, Cumulus plans to migrate management of the web services for its 500+ radio stations to Triton Digital’s platform. Triton Digital’s suite of tools includes streaming delivery (via its StreamTheWorld), audience measurement (Webcast Metrics), ad-insertion, and design of custom media players.

I went and read through the Triton website and they seem to have a fancy platform specifically for radio stations. Once they move over, The Ticket will then be listed with iHeart Radio. When that happens you’ll have to download the iHeart app and find the Ticket and save it as your station. So this is good because I’m sure the streaming will probably work again and be on a more reliable system. Seems lately no one has been able to stream anyway, unless on a wi-fi.

On Triton’s site, it mentioned another service they offer, StreamTheWorld. It appears it gives the radio station an ability to record and archive their shows. Imagine if they had a nice player on their site you can go to and pick exactly what you missed and want to listen to. Would be pretty cool.

We’ll see how things go. There could be a time after the move to the new platform before the iheartradio station is there. In the long run it looks like a big upgrade to our favorite station, but we all know how this year has gone with the move. If I’m completely wrong, would love for someone to explain in the comments section so we can all get it.
